Note: Screen shots and menu wording my differ depending on your camera model. The D-Link DCS-8000LH does not have a web UI so you must use the mydlink Lite app.

There may be a few reasons why the video is only in black and white:

1. Night mode may be manually turned on.

To verify, log in to the camera”s web UI or launch the mydlink Lite app:

Web UI – Go to Setup Audio and Video. Under Day/Night Mode, if Always Night Mode is selected, change it to Auto or Always Day Mode. This will change the image back to color.

mydlink Lite app – From the Live View screen, tap the mode icon in the lower right corner. If it is displaying the “moon” image, it is set to night mode.

Tap it to change to either day mode (sun and cloud icon) or Auto.

2. Black and White may be enabled.

Log in to the web UI of the camera. Go to Setup Image Setup. If the B/W box is checked, it will display the image in black and white. Uncheck to change to color.

3. Low light conditions/environment – If the day/night mode is set to auto and there is low light, the camera will automatically switch to night mode making the video black and white.

4. The cut filter may be stuck. If you do not hear any clicking when changing from day mode to night mode, the filter may be stuck. Please contact tech support if this is the case.

The audio on D-Link camera is distorted or not clear, how do I fix it?

The location of your D-Link camera in some cases may be the cause of any “static” or “feedback” sounds heard when viewing your camera. Surrounding environmental factors may be causing interference with the built in microphone on your camera. Re-locating your camera may help reduce/eliminate the amount of feedback heard, otherwise, an alternative is lowering or disabling the microphone volume on your camera.

To reduce the microphone volume, please follow these steps:

Note: To adjust the microphone volume of your camera, you must log into the web UI Interface of your camera.  Also depending on the model camera, the screen shot may look different.

Step 1: Log in to your camera.

Step 2: Click on the Setup Tab and then click Audio on the left side.

Step 3: Adjust the volume as needed and click Save Settings.

Note: There is no set volume number to specify. You may need to adjust a couple of times to find the level that works in your environment.

When watching the video feed of your D-Link camera in close proximity, using a mobile device or at setup time using your desktop, you most likely will experience audio feedback also know as the Larsen effect. Here are a few things to do to avoid suffering from that annoying sound.
1. Mute/Lower the speaker volume on the viewing device (smartphone, tablet, computer, etc).
2. Mute/Lower Mic Sensitivity on the camera. Go to the camera’s web UI > Setup > Audio > Adjust volume setting.
3. Keep the speaker(Smartphone, tablet, computer, etc) further and facing away from the microphone on the camera, so the speaker output sound does not feed directly into the mic.
4. If you must use the camera in a close proximity environment, use a headset instead of speaker while viewing

Why is my wireless connected mydlink camera shows a solid green light indicator, but no video?

$
0
0

Some camera models use a solid green light indicator to show connectivity to the network, this happens when the camera obtains an IP address from the local DHCP server and joins the network.

When configuring these cameras to use in a wireless network environments, beware of the following:

  • Wireless network signal can degrade depending upon the position, distance and number of obstacles that exist between the wireless camera and wireless access point location.
  • Wireless signal degradation can affect the bandwidth available for the camera’s normal functions like video transmission.

Because signal degradation does not necessarily means there is no link to the network, the following scenario is possible.

When a camera is setup for wireless connectivity at close proximity to the access point or wireless router, the wireless installation can be confirmed successful.  After moving the camera at the location where it was intended to be setup, the wireless coverage may not be as strong at this location. This forces the camera to only have enough signal from the access point or wireless router to join the network (thus showing a green light indicator ), but not enough signal to initiate video transmission over the link. The following recommendations may help overcome this issue:

  1. Try moving the camera to a location closer to the access point or wireless router
  2. Try moving the router to a location closer to the camera
  3. Make sure to adjust your router’s wireless antennas to the recommended position.
  4. Expand your wireless network using a repeater or wireless extender.
